Meet Our Pastor
The Honorable Reverend Scot Kerns was received in the waters of Holy Baptism November 23, 1986 at First English Lutheran Church in Peoria, IL, at the time an American Lutheran Church congregation. On May 6, 2001, he was received in communicant membership of Trinity Lutheran Church (an LCMS congregation) in Peoria, IL, through the solemn Rite of Confirmation. Pastor Kerns received his BA from Concordia University Chicago in 2009, then received his M.DIV. from Concordia Theological Seminary Fort Wayne in 2013. Currently, Pastor Kerns has about a year left to get his MBA at University of Montana. He served in both the Air Force Reserve and Active-Duty Air Force as an LCMS Chaplain, serving our great country for over ten years. Pastor Kerns served as a Parish Pastor in congregations in both Kansas (five years) and Montana (four years) before moving to the Eastern District. He also has served the larger church as the Kansas District Operation Barnabas Representative, as a 2016 Synodical Voting Delegate, and multiple times as District Conference Section Leader. Pastor Kerns is currently a somewhat regular guest on numerous KFUO Radio Programs and has been featured in Lutherans Engage Magazine. While in Montana, he served two terms in the House of Representatives and served on the sub-committees of Taxation, Education, Transportation, and Local Government. He served on the State of Kansas All Hazards Incident Management Team and part of the local City Community Emergency Planning Committee. He also served on the Board of Directors for both the Post Rock Community Foundation in Kansas and the Lewis and Clark Foundation in Montana. Pastor Kerns, for many years, served as a volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America, Civil Air Patrol, and was a community firefighter. In Kansas, he was a state certified substitute teacher. Pastor Kerns is the loving pet owner of Augustana (Auggie), a 11-year-old female beagle. Pastor Kerns enjoys traveling to new places, especially overseas for vacations!
