Reaching, Teaching, Serving, and SHARING Christ
Who We Are
The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League is the official women’s auxiliary of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS).
LWML has as its “mission heart” thousands of volunteers who are daily dedicating their lives to making a difference in this world.
LWML is women who are finding avenues to use their God-given talents as they meet the challenges to share the Gospel message.
LWML is composed of individual women and women’s groups within congregations of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, on campuses, in resident homes, or in other settings. Faith Lutheran is part of the Anthracite Zone of the Eastern District LWML.
The LWML seeks to develop and maintain a greater mission consciousness among women of the LCMS through education, inspiration, and service.
A major emphasis is the support of mission and ministry throughout the world by means of MITE box offerings. These mite box offerings have funded tens of millions of dollars in mission grants since the organization’s inception in 1942.
The mission of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League is to assist each woman of The Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod in affirming her relationship with the Triune God so that she is enabled to use her gifts in ministry to the people of the world.

Faith Lutheran’s Women In Mission
The women of Faith Lutheran meet monthly in Fellowship Hall. Each meeting begins with Devotion and ends with prayer and praise. The program follows the devotion, refreshments, and a meeting. Each month we select a Service Project and a Mission Project. Some of the programs have included: Bible Studies from the LWML Quarterly, speakers from Safe Harbor, Women’s Heart Health, Prison Ministry, annual Prayer Service, Skype conversation with the Seminarian we sponsor, and reports on our District and National conventions.
Service projects have included providing needed supplies to Faith Preschool, providing and serving lunch at Safe Harbor, baking cookies for our shut-ins at Christmas and packing gift bags for them, collecting items and making Christmas Stockings for Church Women United, and Valentine cards for a local nursing home. We’ve enjoyed marking & donating Bibles for the local prison ministry, providing Gifts From the Heart for June conventions, and preparing the VBS mailing. LWML ladies also provide baked goods for church coffee hours, and bake sales which support various charities.
We get together for a family fellowship picnic every June.
At each meeting we collect funds to support our Seminarian and for general operating expenses. Mission projects are supported through these collections. We have also participated in Thrivent Action Teams to provide meals for Safe Harbor.
Each quarter, MITES are collected and dedicated. This money is forwarded to the Eastern District LWML with a percentage going to the National Organization. The money is used to support the many Mite projects of the LWML.
The women of Faith LWML may be small in number, but they are mighty in mission.
