Reaching, TEACHING, Serving, and Sharing Christ

Confirmation is a public rite of the church preceded by a period of instruction in which baptized Christians learn about the confession, life, and mission of the Christian Church. It is also an important milestone in our faith development. At Faith Lutheran Church, we want our confirmation candidates to know what they believe, why they believe it, and how to put their faith into action. To that end, we seek to equip our candidates with a working knowledge of both Scripture and Christian Doctrine. We would love for you and members of your family to be a part of our program! Please contact us for more information.

Sunday School/Confirmation for 5th & 6th Grades

Confirmation studies for 5th and 6th graders happens during the Sunday school hour on Sunday mornings. Our Sunday School program is operational during the regular academic year, starting with Rally Day at the beginning of September and ending around Memorial Day weekend.  In alternate years, the 5th/6th grade students will be taught both Old and New Testament history.

Confirmation Class for 7th & 8th Grades

Confirmation candidates in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades are required to attend class during the week.  Two classes are currently being taught (Monday and Tuesday afternoons).  In this class, each of the six chief parts of the Christian faith are presented (approximately 3 per year) and our confirmation candidates also learn content from Luther’s Small Catechism.  Parents are invited to attend confirmation classes with their student.

In the 8th grade year, candidates will write their faith statements to present in front of their families and also members of our congregation. These faith statements are usually presented at a dinner (held in their honor) on the Friday evening prior to confirmation Sunday.

We thank you for allowing us to partner with you in your child’s Christian education. Please know, the door is always open should you ever have a question or concern. If your Confirmation candidate is having any difficulty completing the above tasks, please bring it to Pastor’s/head Elder’s attention so that we can help.
